Description : The Bichon Poo is a relatively new American cross-breed, a hybrid between the Bichon Frise and the Poodle. The popularity of these "doodle dogs" comes from the combination of the poodle's intelligence and non-shedding, allergy-friendly coat with the sweet, playful temperament and size of Bichon Frise, also with a non-shedding coat. Mixed-breed dogs are healthier than purebred dogs, with hybrid vigor, an observable phenomenon in which a hybrid plant or animal may exhibit greater strength, health or faster rate of growth than its parents. Cross breeds aren't as likely to have the inherited problems of purebred dogs. Purebred dogs are more likely to inherit negative qualities and health problems, if in-breeding had occurred with their ancestors. This is more common with some breeds in the United States that share a relatively small gene pool. Country of Origin: United States. Coat: The double coat consists of a soft dense outercoat and coarse curly outer coat.It has a puffy appearance and springs back when patted. Most Bichon-Poos are hypoallergenic, and don't shed their coat. Character: The Bichon-Poo is sensitive, responsive, affectionate, and eager to cuddle or play. Temperament: This dog is friendly toward strangers, other dogs and children. Since the dogs are hybrids, they show charactaristics of both breeds. Care: The coat needs to be brushed and combed every other day, as well as trimmed every two months. Due to the puppies being hybrids, they are prone to less health problems than purebreeds. Training: The intelligence of this breed makes training a fairly simple task. Activity: The Bichon-Poo is an active dog that needs daily exercise. Vigorous indoor games, romps in the yard, or short walks on the leash will keep it happy. Helpful
